Happy Birthday Mommy!

Well, today is June 7th and it just so happens to be my Mother's Birthday!

My Mom is one of my favorite people. I have such a great relationship with her. My siblings have given me a lot of flack because my Mom and I spend a lot of time together and or talk on the phone a lot, but what they don't get or perhaps understand is that while I was growing up and "rebelling" my Mother and I weren't very close. I couldn't stand her, and to be honest she probably couldn't stand me ( I was horrible). It took many years to get the kind of relationship that we do have, it took a lot of talks, a lot of negotiations on both parts, and a lot of respect. I'm not afraid to say what I think nor is she. We don't sugar coat things to each other and we definitely have LOTS of FUN together. I'm glad that we are close and I'm glad that we have the kind of relationship that we do have, I appreciate it a lot more now knowing how far we've come and how long its taken to get here, and in all honesty I'm ok with my siblings giving me grief about it.

I have the best MOM. She doesn't always say and do things the way I think she should, but that's just her. I love that with her EVERYTHING is fair game in a conversation and we lay our cards out on the table.

I'm also eternally grateful for the marriage that my parents have. If there is one thing that I have never questioned growing up, it is I always knew that my Dad came first...as it should be. I knew that and I appreciate that. They have been married along time and they still LOVE each other like crazy. I hope that today and always she knows how very much she is loved and thought of.
